A Famous Australian-Edith Cowan

Edith Cowan was the first woman to be elected to the Australian Parliament. She lived in Western Australia. When she was 18 years old she got married. Her husband worked as a Registrar and Master of the Supreme Court. In 1890 women could gained the right to vote. The King Edward Memorial Hospital was built because of her hard work. In 1921 Edith Cowan was elected to parliament. Edith Cowan's picture is on the $50 Australia bank note.
